There Is a Way Out
Published in Paperback by New Life Foundation (01 January, 1982)
Author: Vernon Howard
Average review score:

This man can say a lot in just a few words
This book is a series of stand-alone paragraphs that either contain snippets of conversation with a teacher and a student or they contain very short parables. Each can send you off into minutes of thoughtfull consideration. Many are trying to make similar points, but the meaning is so deep, that it is very usefull to have the addional viewpoints. This is a book that would be good to own because new understandings will be gained each time it is read.

Thru the Bible Commentary: Daniel 26
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (March, 1995)
Authors: Vernon J. McGee and J. Vernon McGee
Average review score:

Dr. McGee was an excellent Bible expositor.
His work on Daniel was no exception. Although it does not go into any great theological depth (then again why does it have to?), this commentaryis an excellent introduction to this mysterious, prophetic book.

"Comparing spiritual things with spiritual," Dr. McGee eschews pointless speculation, and fantastic theorizing in order to present a clear picture of this book, which is that it is the gateway book to endtime Bible prophecy.

This book is ideal for a daily devotional guide, as well as a group study guide. I would certainly use it either way.

If the commentary on Daniel is indicative of the way his other commentaries are written, I will be purchasing more of the late J. Vernon McGee's books.

Thru the Bible Commentary: Ecclesiastes and Son of Solomon21
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (July, 1996)
Authors: Vernon J. McGee and J. McGee
Average review score:

An Excellent Commentary
If you have ever listened to Dr. McGee on the radio, you already know what a unique speaker and teacher he is. I love his colorful style of teaching the scripture. Dr. McGee's teachings are filled with home- grown illustrations and practical insights.
I especially like the commentary on Song of Solomon. I have to admit I had read the book, Song of Solomon once on my own and didn't get a lot out of it. Once I looked at it again with the help of Dr. McGee, I could clearly see the gospel laid out in this wonderful little book.
All at once the book of Song of Solomon is a love poem from a man to a woman and a love letter from Christ to us. Who loves us more than Jesus? Nobody!
When you see Christ in the book of Song of Solomon you see it's truest meaning.
Dr. McGee is a wonderful teacher... as he always says in the introducitons to his commentary's he, "Puts the Cookies on the bottom shelf", so that we can always reach them.
The word of God is so simple that even a child can understand it... yet in other ways so deep you can study it forever and never come to a complete understanding.
Let Dr. McGee lead you on a fulfilling quest into the word of God!

Thru the Bible Commentary: Ezekiel 25
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (March, 1995)
Authors: Vernon J. McGee and J. Vernon McGee
Average review score:

A1 Exposition on Ezekiel
Dr. McGee went to be with the L-rd in 1988, but his work and dedication to expository Bible preaching lives on in his "Thru The Bible" commentaries.

Ezekiel is another masterpiece. Dr. McGee's examination of this apocalyptic book is simple, yet meticulously delivered. He eschews fanciful speculation and instead seeks to let the Scriptures speak for themselves as he expounds on the major themes; judgement on the whole house of Israel, the Holiness of God, and Israel's future restoration.

Dr. McGee's books are excellent for personal devotional time, or in a small group Bible study.

Dr. Mcgee places the cookies on the bottom shelf
Though Dr.Mcgee is no no longer with us his simple, compeling style lives on. The simplicity and expertise of the author make this volume a plus for your biblically centered library.

Thru the Bible Commentary: Zechariah 32
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (April, 1997)
Authors: Vernon J. McGee and J. McGee
Average review score:

Another Masterpiece by Dr. McGee
Zechariah is one of the OT Apocalyptic books, which means it should be read slowly and prayerfully. Dr. McGee's commentary is an excellent resource if you are going through this book during your daily devotional time, or a small group study.

What I love about the Dr. McGee's commentaries is that he "compares spiritual things with spiritual," meaning he does not give an interpretation on an isolated verse without running it through the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

I have purchased several of Dr. McGee's commentaries, and so far I have not been disappointed. If you are looking for a resource that will help you experience one of the great prophetic books of the Bible, this book is for you.

Thru the Bible With J. Vernon McGee/Corinthians-Revelation
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (December, 1983)
Authors: Vernon J McGee and Nelson Word Publishing Group
Average review score:

J. Vernon McGee reveals and exalts the Lord Jesus Christ
J. Vernon McGee is the only radio Bible teacher that I know of who consistantly pointed his listeners/students to the greatness of the Lord Jesus Christ no matter which page of Scripture he was teaching from. The Lord Jesus Christ is always brought to the front and center of his teaching.
He was definitely gifted by God to teach from the Bible. He taught me how to interpret Scripture correctly by comparing Scripture with Scripture. The Spirit of God worked through J. Vernon McGee to lead me to saving faith in God our Saviour, and to turn me from the religion of Lutheranism (i.e., law and "gospel") that kept me from receiving God's GIFT of grace by faith alone, in Christ alone completely. Amen!

Dr. McGee had a saying that went something like this: "Put the cookies on the bottom shelf so that the kiddies can reach them." That was his approach to teaching the Word of God. He taught in a way that was able to be understood by every day, common people. Adults, as well as children, can become strong in their knowledge of the Word of God through the systematic teaching of Dr. McGee.

The only thing that I disagree with him on is when he would stray from the Authorized King James Version in favor of the "better"/corrupt manuscripts. Overall, his teaching is mostly taught from the Authorized Version.

When either listening or reading his program/commentary it is as if you are one-on-one with him. You will also discover that he has great sense of humor.

I have the five volume set and recommend that if you are looking for good solid Bible teaching, this is a good eternal investment.

Tinnitus: Treatment and Relief
Published in Hardcover by Allyn & Bacon (14 August, 1997)
Author: Jack A. Vernon
Average review score:

Excellent overview of tinnitus and available treatments
The feature of this book that makes it so helpful is the unbiased overview of the various available treatments. You may wince to hear your favorite home remedy analyzed in strictly scientific terms, but the knowledge can be as refreshing as a splash of cold water on your face. The variety of topics covered--medication, depression, masking, habituation, ginkgo, etc.--indicates that Dr. Vernon wanted this book to be a comprehensive guide to treatment, not just promote one clinic's speciality over another. As a tinnitus sufferer myself, this book was a indispensable tool in trying to understand what I was up against. I particularly liked the presentation of data--treating the reader like a fellow researcher able to form his/her own conclusions.

Tipton's Crew
Published in Paperback by Beautiful America Pub Co (May, 1995)
Authors: P. LA Ferriere and Vernon L. Burda
Average review score:

These men really were heroes... I'm related to one!
I read this tale purely from interest in my family history. Eugene Kryzynski, the bombadier, is my great-great uncle. I never knew the story behind his Silver Star until I read this novel. He is a quiet, humble man who speaks little of his experiences in World War II and as a prisoner of war. This novel was inspiring, and an excellent read for anyone interested in World War II.
